Business Profile

Here at Thirkell’s we are a family run business established in 1969 and have steadily grown over the years. We started from a workshop at Handel Street, Millfield, then moved our Car Sales Dept. to Hylton Road, next came our department at Stockton Road, which was our city centre MOT testing station.

Our latest expansion project saw us open a large, modern workshop, new class IV, V, and VII MOT test station, fast fit tyre and exhaust centre, spacious showroom and comfortable reception in Stobart Street next to the Stadium of Light.

Our workshops offer a full and comprehensive service for all cars, vans and light commercials. We offer everything from engine overhauls to oil changes, from clutches to computer codes and all work is carried out by our time served technicians.

Our workshops are fully equipped to handle all types of company fleet vehicles and control service schedules to your company’s individual needs. We are currently looking after local government fleets and many national lease company vehicles through the 1Link system.
